- Choose your sale date--Weekends are good. If you're holding it near holiday, it's good idea to sell gift items or ornaments.
- Check local ordinances--In some areas, it's fine to just put up a sale sign in front of your house, but some might require you to obtain permits.
- Make an inventory--Sort your merchandise. Doing this prevents you from selling those you might still need, and it would help you monitor your sales.
- Price your items--Check current prices for new or barely-used items. For old things, check out ukay pricing. Put a price tag on every item.
- Advertise--Put up big signs with your sale details. Inform your neighbors through phone and email.
- Set up--Display your wares on long tables, with the most attractive items in front to draw in customers.
- Have lots of change--Prepare small bills and coins.
- Make an ending inventory--At the end of your sale, take down your signs, count your money, and see what's left over. Use them for your next sale, or donate to charity.
