7 DONT'S AFTER MEAL

1. Do not smoke after a meal! Experiments from experts prove that smoking a cigarette after a meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes chances of cancer is higher.

2. Do not drink tea after a meal as ten leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the protein content in the food we consume to be hardened; making it difficult to digest.

3. Do not eat fruits immediately after meals. It will bloat your stomach. Therefore have your
fruits one or two hours before or after your meal.

4. Do not bathe after eating. Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs and body thereby causing the amount of blood around the stomach to decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

5. Do not loosen your belt after eating. Loosening the belt after a meal can cause intestinal problems.

6. Do not sleep immediately. The intake of food will not be able to digest properly thereby leading to gastro-intestinal problems.

7. Do not walk after meal even though you have heard people say that after a meal, walking a hundred steps will take you live until 99. Walking immediately after a meal will make it difficult for the digestive system to absorb the nutrition from the food we eat. Wait at least an hour after your meal and then walk if you want.

Be Aware!!!

I read an article from a magazine that women experience early heart attack warning signs differently from men in that the symptoms in women can be far subtler. Any woman who shows the following signs must seek immediate medical attention.

  • Shortness of breath, often without any form of chest pain
  • Flu-like symptoms that include nausea, clamminess or cold sweats
  • Unexplained fatigue, weakness or dizziness
  • Upper back, shoulder, neck, jaw, or chest pain
  • Feelings of anxiety, loss of appetite, or discomfort

HAND WASHING: MAKE IT A HABIT

During weekend we always go to supermarket to buy foods for the whole week. We usually take home a whole pizza pie from Pizza Hut. After playing, my son will eat that pizza because it’s his ultimate favorite “merienda” together with my husband. We used to eat this without fork and knife, especially my son he just hold and bite until done.

Kids don't always listen when you tell them to wash their hands before eating, but it's a message worth repeating. Hand washing is by far the best way to prevent germs from spreading and to keep your kids from getting sick.

DEFENSE AGAINST GERMS

Germs can be transmitted many ways, including:

1. Touching dirty hands

2. Changing dirty diapers

3. Through contaminated water and food

4. Through droplets released during cough or a sneeze

5. Contaminated surfaces

When kids come into contact with germs, they don’t know that they will become infected simply by touching their nose, skin, eyes, or putting their hands in their mouth. And once they’re infected, it’s usually just a matter of time before the whole family comes down with illness.

Good hand washing is the first line of defense against the spread of many illnesses, from common cold to more serious illnesses such influenza, hepatitis A, common types of diarrhea and meningitis.

If your child is reluctant about hand washing, here are some tips :

· Use colorful soaps made especially for kids, some soaps have different shapes or have fun scents to make hand washing fun for them.

· You can also use the liquid hand soap, some kids love pumping it while pouring in their palm.

· Sing along with your child while hand washing, by the time that tune is done the germs are already washed away.
